The Measurement of the Volumetric Contents of Large Silos and Stockpiles

Methods are presented for determining the optimum fixing positions of continuous depth transducers to give minimum error in the measurement of the volumetric contents of large cylindrical silos. Computer models of material transfers to and from silos are used to verify the results.
