Pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple Procedure)
2020
Lesions at the head of the pancreas, ampullary tumors and lesion at the second portion of the duodenum require a pancreaticoduodenectomy and subsequent reconstruction with a hepaticojejunostomy, pancreaticojejunostomy and gastojejunostomy. If the portal vein is involved, a vascular reconstruction needs to be performed. The present chapter discusses a Whipple procedure.
