Bladder Neck Dyssynergia and Prostatitis

1994
The term “bladder neck obstruction” is widely used in clinical practice to describe a variety of conditions which cause voiding dysfunction at the level of the outlet of the bladder. The term is non-specific and therefore is open to misinterpretation, often being used to describe a specific lesion affecting the bladder neck mechanism itself, lesions causing outflow obstruction at the level of the bladder neck (these include all forms of prostatic enlargement) or rarely nowadays the term is used to denote bladder outflow obstruction in general without any distinction between proximal and distal location. (Turner-Warwick, 1973) (Table 13.1).
