Mathematical Modeling of Ignition and Extinction of Surface Exothermic Reactions

A mathematical model is developed for unsteady ignition of a reaction at the catalyst surface in a well-stirred reactor. Ignition and extinction of carbon monoxide oxidation at the platinum catalyst surface are studied.
