The release of tritiated water from synthetic analcime into surrounding water

1987
Abstract The release of tritiated water (THO) from synthetic analcime particles into surrounding water has been investigated at 298–333 K. The kinetics of THO/H 2 O exchange is controlled by diffusion of water in the solid particles and has been interpreted in terms of the Boyd—Reichenberg equation for infinite solution volume. Self-diffusion coefficients and activation parameters for diffusion have been calculated and compared with published values obtained at higher temperature and pressure, by different techniques and diffusion models. The results obtained are discussed with respect to the possible use of analcime as a storage material for tritiated waste water.
