Rearing Three Species of Cereal Aphids on Artificial Diets

1967
Techniques were developed and several artificial diets tested for use in rearing 3 species of cereal aphids. A diet was found which supported survival and reproduction of the corn leaf aphid, Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch) over a 3-week period. The English grain aphid, Macrosiphum avenae (F), and the oat bird-cherry aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), were less successfully sustained on the diet.
