Theories of Work, Place and Learning: New Direction
2011
This chapter sets out to explore new ideas and
directions for the concept of Workplace Learning.
It suggests that the three terms included in the composite, that is, Work, Place and Learning, each
need to be considered more broadly than has been
the case in the last 50 years and that the combination
of the three should invoke some new thinking
in this ‘ultramodern’ age of the twenty-first
century. In addition, the chapter presents a number
of suggested challenges which could necessitate
different approaches to a wide range of workplace
learning thinking and activities as this twenty-first
century unfolds.
