Endocarditis infecciosa en un paciente con válvula aórtica nativa bicúspide: una causa de fiebre de origen desconocido

The clinical case of a 33 years old aƩ ended the Highly Specialized Regional Hospital of Oaxaca diagnosed with Fever of Un- known Origin is presented. The clinical picture began in October 2012, with iniƟ al diagnosis of rheumatoid arthriƟ s, for which he received medical treatment for gastric intolerance leŌ . Three months aŌ er it was submiƩ ed to the same hospital for weight loss of 11 kilograms, intermiƩ ent fever of 39 o C and aorƟ c murmur; which he ruled out the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthriƟ s. The transthoracic echocardiography showed aorƟ c insuffi ciency, Chiari network bicuspid aorta valve and aƩ ached fi liform injury. It was decided to perform surgery with valve replacement, achieving clinical improvement. In the case analysis the role of new imaging tools that have contributed to the modifi caƟ on of the concept of Fever of Unknown Origin stands.
