A method of acquiring a route hotspot of a traffic road and device. The method comprises: acquiring a plurality of points of interest on a traffic road and positioning data of a plurality of positioning terminals (S21), wherein the positioning data comprises location information of a positioning terminal moving on the traffic road; mapping positioning data of each of the positioning terminals to the points of interest on the traffic road to acquire the points of interest on the traffic road positioned by the positioning terminal (S23); acquiring, according to the points of interest on the traffic road positioned by the positioning terminal, a traffic route of each of the positioning terminals (S25); acquiring, according to the traffic route of each of the positioning terminals, a preferred traffic route of each of the positioning terminals (S27); and combining preferred traffic routes of the positioning terminals to acquire a route hotspot distribution diagram of the traffic road (S29). The method resolves the technical problem in which efficiency of determining a route hotspot in a traffic road is low owing to a complex process of extracting and processing traffic data.
