The present invention provides a sol - gel self-propagating Method O 4 powders prepared combustion CaIn 2: containing Ca (NO 3 ) 2 and in (NO 3 ) 3 nitrate aqueous solution is a reaction starting solution, was slowly added dropwise as a sol - gel chelator and an aqueous solution of citric acid from the combustion of fuel, heated and stirred to obtain a sol - gel precursor, with ammonia or HNO 3 adjusted sol - gel precursor to a pH of 2-3, heating the hydrolysis sol, and dried to obtain a xerogel, the xerogel is heated ignited, self-propagating burn after full combustion products, the combustion products heat 1 ~ 2h, milled at 550 ~ 600 ℃, to obtain the CaIn 2 O 4 powder. Advantageous effects of the present invention is mainly embodied in: (1) reaction of a precursor solution or particle size of the order of nanometers suspensions, dispersibility and uniformity between different components of the good; (2) form a xerogel particles smaller size, may be implemented at a relatively low temperature sintered phase, advantageous for obtaining small size CaIn 2 O 4 powder, thereby improving powder photocatalytic activity.
