Principle of X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy

2021
This chapter deals with a phenomenon that the irradiation of a primary X-ray beam induces the characteristic X-ray of an analyte element. Here, the important physical quantity is the binding energy of electron for each electron orbital. Wavelengths of the characteristic X-ray are principally determined by the binding energy of orbitals peculiar to the analyte element, which is a principle of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy.
