The present invention addresses the issue of providing a production method for a curable liquid crystal polyester composition capable of suppressing formation of aggregates of a compound having a prescribed functional group, when bonding said functional group to the terminal of a liquid crystal polyester by mixing the liquid crystal polyester and the compound having said functional group. Provided is a production method for a heat-curable liquid crystal polyester composition, which includes a mixing step in which a liquid crystal polyester (A) and a compound (B) are mixed in the presence of a solvent (C). The liquid crystal polyester (A) has, on the molecular chain terminal thereof, at least one type of functional group or structure selected from a group comprising a hydroxyl group, an acyloxy group, an aromatic ring, and a conjugated dien structure. The compound (B) has inside the molecules thereof: a functional group that reacts with the hydroxyl group, the acyloxy group, the aromatic ring, or the conjugated dien structure and reacts with the functional group or structure in the liquid crystal polyester (A); and a thermally polymerizable functional group.
