Piezooptic Effect and Dislocation Structure in Paratellurite Single Crystals

Theoretically and experimentally the possibility of revealing the dislocation structure of paratellurite with the aid of piezooptic effect is demonstrated. Calculations are given of the mechanical stress distribution around dislocations. Both photoelastic and chemical etching methods were employed to delineate the dislocations in plane-parallel and spherical samples. Data on the distribution of dislocations in Czochralsky-grown crystals are presented.
