Chromium-free impregnated activated carbon for adsorption of toxic gas and/or toxic vapor

1990
PURPOSE: To prepare an activated carbon for adsorption of a toxic gas and the like by impregnating an activated carbon with 0-14% copper, 2-16% zinc and 6-16% in total of copper and zinc, and optionally 0-10% silver and 0-6% triethylene diamine. CONSTITUTION: A solution, in which copper, zinc, and if necessary, silver and 0-10% organic acid are blended, is prepared. After being impregnated with the solution, the activated carbon is dried and optionally impregnated with triethylene diamine to prepared the activated carbon for adsorption of the toxic gas and the like. The resultant activated carbon for adsorption contains 0-14% copper, 2-16% zinc and 6-16% in total of copper and zinc and optionally 0-16% silver and 0-6% triethylene diamine. The activated carbon for adsorption is incorporated in a gas mask to be applied for adsorption and removal of the toxic gas such as chlorine, hydrogen cyanide or sulfur dioxide.
