The dehydrogenative Heck coupling (Fujiwara–Moritani reaction) of unactivated olefins with 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrans is described. The two main highlights of the work are the use of unconventional unactivated olefins as coupling partners in the palladium-catalyzed reaction and the use of aprotic conditions for the coupling reaction of the acid-labile dihydropyrans.
