Electromagnetic wave absorption properties of magnetic particle-doped SiCN (C) composite ceramics

2021
High-temperature-resistant magnetic particles/SiCN (C) composite ceramics were prepared by the polymer derivation in this paper. The phase composition, microstructure, electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption properties and EMW absorption mechanism were studied. The results show that magnetic particles/SiCN (C) composite ceramics have a wider EMW absorption bandwidth as compared to the SiCN (C) composite ceramics. When the thickness was 4 mm, Fe/SiCN (C) composite ceramics had a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of − 15.7 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB, RL < − 10 dB) of 1.5 GHz, and Co/SiCN (C) composite ceramics had a RLmin of − 15.6 dB and an EAB of 1.84 GHz. Ni/SiCN (C) composite ceramics had a wider EAB, with the RLmin of − 13.9 dB and the EAB of 2.08 GHz at the thickness of 1.4 mm. The high-temperature-resistant magnetic particles/SiCN (C) composite ceramics reported in this study can be an attractive material for EMW absorbers.
