Teacher's PET: Programmed English as a Second Language Tuition [Book Review]

2001
Observation of classes is a vexed issue in many sectors of our profession. This study concerns the value of peer observation as perceived by teachers at an English language school. Results of a questionnaire, informal interviews, and a staff workshop indicated that while teachers may hold negative views of observation for assessment, they were open to the idea of using observation as a self-reflective tool. The staff decided that peer observation is valuable for professional development, provided that observers receive some sort of training, it remains voluntary and oral feedback is given after each observation session.
