Energy measurements in a current-carrying plasma in a stellarator

An analytic expression is derived for the change in the longitudinal magnetic flux in a current-carrying plasma in a stellarator. The pressure balance is governed primarily by the stellarator field. Measurements of the plasma energy and of the energy confinement time are reported.
