Examination of Pneumatic Bellows for the Rehabilitation of the Human Jaw

This paper presents the construction of the maxillary-mandibular system and rehabilitation methods for transient limitation of jaw opening. To eliminate the drawbacks of existing rehabilitation devices, a complex device of human jaw rehabilitation has been designed. The device uses a pneumatic propulsion system to conduct jaw movement in all required planes, by a system of pneumatic actuators and custom-made pneumatic bellows. There were manufactured several bellows of different shapes and sizes to test the impact of the bellow dimensions on its work. The results of the research process on pneumatic bellows for the rehabilitation of the human jaw are presented.
