Light guides for the ZEUS forward and rear calorimeters

Abstract Wavelength-shifter bars are widely used for the optical readout of scintillation counters and of scintillation sampling calorimeters. For the ZEUS calorimeter a high quality optical readout system is required in order to achieve and maintain a high energy resolution. We report on the optimization and series production of nearly 5000 wavelength-shifter light guides for the ZEUS forward and rear calorimeters.
