Development and Property Study of a Flame Retardant Fabric Based on Blended Yarn of Modacrylic Fiber with Chloride and Hemp Fiber

A fabric with good flame retardancy,light stability and bast type feeling is obtained by altering the weaving structure and the mass percentage of modacrylic fiber with chloride in the weft yarn.The optimal and critical blend ratios of modacrylic fiber are 90% and 80% respectively.The flame retardancy of warp direction is better than that of weft direction where flame retardant yarns are.Satin weave has a better flame retardant stability than plain weave or twill weave.The modacrylic fiber can also improve the light stability of the fabric besides its contribution to flame retardancy.Flame retardant fabric with modacrylic fiber/hemp fiber is very suitable for curtains,sofa cloths,vehicle fabrics,etc.
