Introduction to Roundtable: Beckett and the Twentieth Century

Critics whose efforts contributed to the founding or significant advancement of Beckett studies as a discipline were invited to participate in a roundtable that aimed to situate Beckett's work on the horizon of the twentieth century. Prior to the discussion, the panelists each spoke on some aspect of "Beckett and the Twentieth Century" of particular interest to them. What follows are the mod erator's preliminary remarks and the comments offered by some of the panelists.
