A modulator (102) is configured to respond to Eingangshube by providing a feedback voltage across a feedback path (106) to affect an increase in noise and distortion performance with increasing signal power at signal levels that exceed a predetermined threshold. A digital-to-analog converter (106) generates a feedback voltage to a resistor chain, which is biased with a given current, and switches as a function of an input value to attenuate the voltage swing at a summing node (108).
