Hydrogen behaviour in liquid 17Li83Pb alloy

Abstract The solubility and the diffusivity of hydrogen in the eutectic alloy 17Li83Pb have been studied in a device especially designed for taking into account the expected low level of solubility. The structural materials were chosen as inert as possible to hydrogen and a large amount of alloy is used. The data obtained at 450°C (Sieverts' constant: (2.7 ± 0.2) × 10 −8 atomic fraction. Pa − 1 2 ; diffusivity: 1.5 × 10 −9 mm 2 s −1 ) confirm the low ability of the alloy 17Li83Pb for containing hydrogen.
