Research Note: Use of X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy to Analyze Calcium and Phosphorus in Poultry Feeds
1990
Abstract X-Ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy was applied for the analyses of Ca and P in poultry feeds. The data collected from the XRF technique were compared with those from conventional atomic absorption (Ca) and colorimetric (P) methods, respectively. Statistical analyses of the data were based on the coefficient of determination (R2) and standard error of the estimate (SEE). The R2 and SEE were .96, .28 and .94, .15, for Ca and P, respectively. The XRF technique seems to have a potential for a fast (60 s), multielement method of mineral analyses in poultry feeds with a minimum of sample preparation.
