Throughput efficiency in IEEE 802.11n networks

2017
Throughput in IEEE 802.11 networks depends on a large number of factors related to the standard version, transmission conditions in the radio channel and a number of users of the network. In addition, the bit rate obtained for the actual conditions is significantly different from the theoretical maximum bit rate defined in the standard as it can be only the part of the maximum bit rate. The authors conducted an analysis of the efficiency of throughput in a Wi-Fi network compatible with the IEEE 802.11n, standard using the latest version of the NS-3 simulator. NS version 3.26 allows, among others, to analyze the impact of interference on the obtained bit rate, using a new model of the Wi-Fi physical layer called SpectrumWifiPhy.
