Effect evaluation of emergency case handover by Six Sigma Management based on ISO9001 in the emergency inpatient department

Objective: To investigate the application effect of Six Sigma Management in nursing flow renovation based on ISO9001 management system.Methods: Six Sigma Five-Step based on ISO9001 management system was introduced since January 2008,that was defined,measured,analyzed,improved and controlled,to distinguishing quality key pointer and flow defect during the handover of emergency patients hospitalization.For the 120 cases of emergency patients,compared and analyzed the differences between pre-optimized and after-optimized of the workflow in the handover defects,hospital handover time,patients' satisfaction,emergency nurses' satisfaction to ward nurses,evaluating the effect to hospitalization handover flow of introduction of Six Sigma Management based on ISO9001 management system.Results: Nursing dispute and defect decreased from 1.60% to 0.48% after optimization(P0.05);handover time decreased from(9.4±2.3) min to(3.8±1.2) min(P0.05);degree of satisfaction of patients' and emergency nurses' satisfaction to ward nurse increased obviously(P0.01),achieved the target.Conclusion: Six Sigma Management based on ISO9001 management system could improve the quality and work efficiency,decreasing the defect rate.It's worth to spreading and exploiting in nursing management.
