Natural rubber composites as thermal neutron radiation shields: I. B4C/NR composites

2002
Abstract Composites of conductive natural rubber (40 HAF/NR) were loaded with different concentrations of boron carbide (B 4 C) and subjected to thermal neutron radiation shielding investigation. The highest value obtained for the linear absorption coefficient was =0.34 cm −1 for the composite containing 20 phr of B 4 C. Moreover, the effects of B 4 C on the thermal and electrical properties of these composites were also studied.
