The Surface Roughness By Peripheral Or Slab Milling

2005
Surface roughness is one of the values describing quality of the machined surface. It significantly influences the physical and chemical properties of the surface, and has big importance for product exploitation phase. Therefore it is necessary to develop techniques to predict the surface roughness before machining, in order to select machining parameters that will keep required surface roughness and preserve product quality. Mathematical models for ideal surface roughness at peripheral or slab milling are not very frequently presented in technical literature and university textbooks, and when have, the problem is usually simplified and simplified relations for calculations of theoretical surface roughness are used. This paper represents contribution for improved calculation of surface roughness parameters Rz and Ra.
