Characterization of nail changes in alopecia areata using 33-MHz ultrasound.

We read with great interest the article by Yesudian PD and de Berker DAR1⁠ which describes the differences between nail changes in lichen planus and alopecia areata. We would like to share our experience using a high-frequency transducer (33 MHz) ultrasound for the examination of the nail plates and bed, as a complementary method to physical examination and dermatoscopy.
