"Evolution of Darwin's Finches"

2009 
One hundred and fifty years ago Charles Darwin gave us a good explanation for evolutionary change in his landmark book On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection (Darwin 1859). Nevertheless we still have the task of explaining why the world is so extraordinarily rich in species. There are literally millions of species. How, as modern evolutionary biologists, do we account for them? (Fig. 1)
