The status of Plasmodium corradettii Laird, 1998 (Haemosporida: Plasmodiidae): a malarial parasite of birds

The type-material of Plasmodium corradettii Laird, 1998, a malarial parasite of birds, has been examined and compared with the original description. It is concluded that the validity of P. corradettii as a distinct species is questionable and is herein declared to be a nomen dubium.
