Size effect on melting temperature of nanostructured drugs
2007
Abstract This study was conducted to predict the size-dependent melting temperatures of nanostructured griseofulvin (C 17 H 17 ClO 6 ) and nifedipine (C 17 H 18 N 2 O 6 ) drugs in their stable states embedded in polymer matrix based on a previous model for melting temperatures of nanocrystals. It is found that when the size of the drugs drops to several nanometers, the drops of the corresponding melting temperatures are more than 10%. Available experimental evidences support the model predictions.
