Primary Study on Eya1 Gene’s Functions in Mouse Eye Development

Eya1 knock-out mutant mice were used to dig the functions of Eya1 in eye development. Results:1.no abnormalities were found in Eya1 mutant embryos' eye development but failure of eyelid fusion;2.100% of Eya1 -/- embryos could not start eyelid fusion and 24% of Eya1 +/- embryos could not complete eyelid fusion. Conclusion:1.Eya1 is required in the process of eyelid fusion;2.other gene(s) is(are) redundant to Eya1 in mouse eye development.
