RUSSIAN LEADERSHIP: IS IT EVOLVING TOWARD MORE INTERNATIONAL STYLES -- A PANEL DISCUSSION

ABSTRACT This panel symposium will discuss and offer opportunities to debate Russian managerial leaders’ opinions, attitudes, beliefs and behaviours, seeking to discover if there are unique characteristics and styles compared to other countries, particularly the USA. We focus on content pertaining to research, practice, and theory development of managerial leadership processes for multinational business interactions with Russians inside and outside Russia. Each panel member will present a brief discussion of an area of study of leadership in Russia and global context, why the topic is interesting and important, and what is known and not known within the topic. After each topic the discussant will briefly comment on the issues, and the discussion will be opened to questions and commentary from the other panellists and the audience. LIST OF POTENTIAL DIVISION/INTEREST GROUP/AAT SPONSORS International Management Division This panel symposium is pertinent to the intere sts and domain of the International Management Division as the panel focuses on research, practice, and theory development of managerial leadership processes, and specifically on a cross-border and cross-cultural discussion of managerial leadership by businesspeople in Russia compared to other countries.
