GC/MS Analysis of Body Fluids for Drugs of Abuse

2020
The application of combined gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS) to the identification and quantification of drugs of abuse in physiological specimens has grown dramatically in the past 10 years. This is particularly true in the U. S., primarily due to the increase in workplace drug testing and the widely accepted policy that whenever a drug analysis has the potential of legal and/or disciplinary consequences, the presence of the drug must be confirmed by a GC/MS analysis.
