To evaluate the clinical effect of chyluria with two different medicines

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of chyluria by flushing pelvis with meglumine diatrizoate and silver nitrate.Methods 63 cases of chyluria were randomly divided into 2 groups,received the treatment with these two different medicines,and then observed the rate of chyluria disappearance and recurrence and the incidence of complications.Results The disappearance rate of chyluria treated with meglumine diatrizoate and silver nitrate was 82.86% and 78.57%,accordingly,the recurrence rate was 27.59% and 23.81%.Allergic shock was observed only in 1 patient treated with meglumine diatrizoate.Complications were observed in patients treated with silver nitrate including light haemolyticus jaundice in 1 patient and kidney stone in 3 patients.Conclusion Therapeutic value of meglumine diatrizoate is comparable to silver nitrate and can take the place of later which is dangerer.
