A Comparison of the Cardiorespiratory Effects of Salbutamol and Isoproterenol-Phenylephrine Aerosols in Asthma1, 2

1971
In a comparative study of 20 patients with asthma, salbutamol was a more effective and longer acting bronchodilator than a combination of isoproterenol and phenylephrine. The aerosols caused no significant changes in heart rate, electrocardiogram, or mean arterial oxygen tension. Individual increases or decreases in arterial oxygen tension occurred after both aerosols.
