THE STUDY OF RURAL BUILDINGS in Mecklenburg (Germany) is about 100 years old, dating from a first article (in 1866) by Ludwig Fromm. From the beginning of the twentieth century, scholars such as Wilhelm Pessler, Johann Ulrich Folkers, Johann Friedrich Pries, and Franz Engel sought to continue this research. Folkers, preEminently, succeeded in achieving new results such as the discovery of a group of Saxon houses with two doors providing a vehicular passage.
