O cuidador no ambiente hospitalar: uma revisão integrativa

Objective: this study aims to know the knowledge production about the caregiver in the hospital environment according to the scientific publications. Methods: this is an integrative review carried out according to electronic databases, Nursing Database (BDENF), Latin-American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health (CINAHL), using the keywords “Caregivers””Family caregiver””Hospital” and “Hospital admissions”, from the thematic analysis. Results: the analysis of the 21 studies allowed the discussion of some topics such as: family caregivers’ profi le, physical and emotional overload; rules and routines in the hospital environment; professional relationship, and caregiver in the provision of care. Conclusion: the instrumentalization of the health team is a key factor if considering the caregiver’s needs in the hospital, so that the team can identify signs and symptoms of overload and interfere in order to contribute with the family caregiver.
