OBSERVATIONS OF THE SOLAR WIND NEAR THE SUN FROM MICROWAVE IPS PHENOMENA

1992
The solar wind plasma near the sun has been investigated using the power spectra of interplanetary scintillations (IPS) observed at 2, 8 and 22 GHz in 1990. The results of a spectral fitting analysis indicate that the solar wind is accelerated significantly from 5 to 30 Rs (solar radii). It is also found that the spatial spectra of plasma turbulence flatten at smaller radial distances.
