We acknowledge Saenger’s (2011) comments and welcome the opportunity to clarify the potentially misleading points. Throughout Bernth and Chapman (2011), we used the Cartesian grid cell as illustrated in their Figure 1a. Saenger (2011) rightly points out that the elementary cell is an octahedron (his Figure 1).
