Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans of the Great Toe with 40-Years Duration: Report of a Rare Case

2021
Abstract Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans has been described as a rare, locally invasive, low-grade malignant fibroblastic sarcoma of the skin with very slow growth and a high rate of recurrence after incomplete removal that usually affects middle-aged patients. Herein, we describe a rare case of a dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans of the great toe in a 62-year-old man of forty-years duration treated with first ray amputation and second toe disarticulation to achieve tumor-free margins of excision. We also make a brief literature review concerning this tumor, its histopathological characteristics, and the guidelines regarding its treatment.
