Arctic Dreams: Protecting and preserving the Arctic

It is important that the United States take seriously its decisions regarding protection of the most extensive remaining relatively pristine ecosystem in the world. Alaska and the Arctic region are being impacted by climate change, and access to the region and its development is increasing. This enhanced access to the region, resource development, and increased possibilities of oil spills and other hazards, create an imperative to protect this pristine environment. The U.S. Coast Guard, the federal government, and educational institutions can all play a role in protection and preservation of Alaska and the Arctic region.
