A New Triterpenoid Saponin from Psammosilene tunicoides

2009
AIM: To investigate the chemical constituents of Psammosilene tunicoides W. C. Wu et C. Y. Wu. METHODS: Compounds were isolated by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and Rp-C18 column chromatography and the structures were elucidated by ESI-MS, EI-MS and NMR methods. RESULTS: Three compounds were isolated and identified as triterpenoid saponins: 3-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)-[β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→3)]-β-D-6-O-methylglucuronopyranosyl-gypsogenin (1), 2α-hydroxyursolic acid (2), tormentic acid (3). CONCLUSION: Compound 1 is a new triterpenoid saponin while compounds 2 and 3 are isolated from this genus for the first time.
