Concentration of temperature stresses in the branch pipes of the drums of power-generating boilers

The concentration of temperature stresses in the drum of a power-generating boiler under unsteady thermal conditions is investigated. A relationship between the concentration of stresses and changes in the temperature of the media and the intensity of heat transfer is discussed. A solution to the specific problem of cooling the drum followed by discharge of the water after the boiler has been shut-down is given.
