The Insecure Nature of Cyberspace

This chapter first briefs the development of the Internet and the substantial growth of users in the cyberspace. Accompanied with the convenience that the Internet has brought to the general public and shaped users’ daily behaviors, cyberspace has become an attractive virtual place for crime. While the type of cybercrime is diverse, the intuitive image of cyber criminals is usually hackers. “Real” hackers are equipped with computer programming ability, but they often start their cyberattacks with “social engineering.”
