Summary The teaching of the visual arts has suffered for several decades from the educational situation where the "in the style of" took the place. The formation could not counter this phenomenon. Also, this article proposes the description of an experiment that developed because of research around the artistic creation process, in order to develop and take into account the principles of the didactics of the visual arts. It provides teachers with ways to open their teaching practices to the arts. The related experience is the introduction of a personal exercise book (artist's notebook) in the kindergarten class, led by a teacher for the entire class. It highlights self-reliance behaviors in students, reflexive feedback from teachers, both associating.
