Interpretation of the anomalous Curie constant in Fe3Pt invar alloy

Abstract In the Fe 3 Pt invar alloy, the iron effective spin estimated from the high temperature susceptibility is 2.3 whereas low temperature measurements yield 1.4. This behaviour may be interpreted in the Heisenberg model provided that the dependence on the interatomic spacing of the exchange interaction is taken into account.
