A novel torque ripple minimization scheme for solar powered BLDC motor

2017
This paper proposes a novel scheme of reducing the commutation torque ripple of BLDC motors by injecting additional voltage in the non-commutating phase of the motor. The SIDO converter used in this work provides two independent output voltages with different magnitudes. One of the voltages (V 1 ) is connected to Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) which runs BLDC motor. Another voltage (V 2 ) provides an additional voltage to the non-commutating phase of motor at the time of commutation. The SIDO converter is powered from PV system incorporated with MPPT scheme. The proposed configuration is developed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink. Results prove the effective utilization of solar power for running the BLDC motor with reduced torque ripple.
